Our History in Brief:
Lighthouse Body of Christ was originally Lighthouse Bible Baptist founded by Robert Youmans in 1989. After 40 years of serving the Lord as an undershepherd, pastor Bob was called home in 2003. His grandson, Dan Youmans, Jr., accepted the mantel passed on from his grandfather. With the support of the deacons and the pull of the Spirit aligning with the words of Jesus in Mark 9 and Luke 9 compelling His followers not to divide into sects the church was renamed the Lighthouse Body of Christ in 2005. Through many moves of God, we have finally made our church home at 693 W. Isabella Rd. in Lee Township in the county of Midland in the State of Michigan (48640).
A Summary of Our Beliefs
We serve the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus the Christ, believing He is the only Son of the Living God. That Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life and that no one comes to the Father except by Him. We also believe that no one calls Jesus Lord but by the Holy Ghost. Thus, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, being One, brings mankind into the understanding of His existence and plan in order to develop a loving relationship with anyone and everyone, regardless of their past, who will believe on Him.
We believe Jesus satisfied the wrath of God, paying the penalty for the sin of the entire world, past, present, and future, so that sin can no longer reign over the life of those that believe. The atoning blood of Jesus washes sin away. Therefore, it is not sin that causes mankind to stay separated from God, it is unbelief. That is why the passion of God is stated in John 3:16:
” For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” KJV
Combined with other scriptures it is clear that the resulting salvation of those who believe in Jesus does not come from works, charitable giving, or by living a moral lifestyle by man’s standards; it is a gift from God by His grace which must be received through faith that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God – born and lived without sin, suffered unjustly on a cross to take the curse of sin from mankind, died, was buried, and rose again on the third day in His own power. Thus, we believe that those who confess with their mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in their hearts that God raised Him from the dead are saved by grace and will spend eternity with their Lord in His Kingdom starting at the moment they believe.
We believe the Holy Bible is the Holy Spirit inspired Word of God, both in the Old Testament and the New Testament, to be used for doctrine, reproof, correction, and instruction for righteous living. Though times, policies, and popular views change, the Word of God will never change in content or meaning. It is up to mankind to to seek the Holy Spirit to be taught about the scriptures to be interpreted by the Bible, not to interpret the Bible.
We believe that by baptism (full immersion) in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we enter into the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus and is an outward demonstration of an individual’s faith in Jesus. The Lord’s Supper is a time of reflection of what Jesus Christ has done for mankind and done in remembrance of Him until He comes again and is a demonstration of our continual renewing of faith in Him. Both baptism and the Lord’s Supper are reserved for those who have accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal savior.
